In connection with the declaration of this year (2024) as the “Green World Solidarity Year” in Azerbaijan, as well as the organization of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in our country, the professional role of the media is crucial in effectively and accurately conveying relevant information to both local and international audiences. This also includes public and social awareness, as well as outreach and promotion efforts.

Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has announced a competition in line with the following objectives:

• Promoting the application of sustainable practices in the activities of local online media entities;
• Expanding the scope of public awareness and advocacy activities related to the relevant topic;
• Increasing awareness on environmental issues in various directions;
• Organizing campaigns on websites and social media accounts;
• Stimulating the application of sustainable practices by media entities in their activities.

The online media entities that demonstrate outstanding results in the defined areas will be awarded a “Green Certificate” on the occasion of the 149th anniversary of the National Press of Azerbaijan.
